In December 2021, the project of Panyu Fishing Port Economic Zone was officially included in the pilot list of fishing port Economic zones supported by the central financial subsidies in 2021. It is the only national coastal fishing port economic zone pilot in the "Golden Inner Bay" around the Pearl River Estuary, one hundred kilometers in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, with a total investment of 1.41 billion yuan (including 400 million yuan of central and provincial funds). Key construction contents include smart fishing port system project, Shangyong recreational fishing Wharf, Lengjiangyong Windshelter Anchorage project, Shangyong Windshelter Anchorage Project, leisure fishery complex project, etc., to build smart fishing port, safe fishing port, green fishing port, cultural fishing port and industrial fishing port.

At present, all the work is progressing in an orderly way, and the overall progress of the project has reached 51%. After the completion of the project, it will effectively improve the production and living environment of the residents in the four fishing villages around Lianhuashan, promote the fishermen to change their production and business and increase their income, lead the transformation and upgrading of the fishery industry, and form a new fishery development pattern featuring green development of aquaculture, intensive processing of fishery products, and vigorous secondary and tertiary industries.
